This personalised pottery workshop is designed for anyone wanting to get their hands in clay. Whether you are a complete newcomer or looking to refine existing skills, I will guide you every step of the way.
What You’ll Learn
During this 2-hour session at my Summerhall studio (1 Summerhall Place, EH9 1PL, Edinburgh), we will cover:
Preparing the clay (wedging)
Centering on the wheel
Pulling up the walls
Shaping your own cup or bowl
Throw as many pots as you like! At the end of the session, choose your favourite piece, which I will trim, glaze, and fire for you.
Your finished piece will be ready for collection from the studio (or posted for an additional postage fee) within 3–4 weeks.
What’s provided: An apron and a towel are provided for every student.
What to wear: Pottery can get messy! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, tie back long hair, and remove rings/bracelets. We also recommend trimming your nails beforehand for easier throwing.
Age requirements: Open to ages 16 and over. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Availability: Sessions run Monday–Friday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and weekends from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Advance Scheduling: Please note that all sessions are currently being booked for January 2027 onwards.
